Teaching Numbers with Ladybirds
My little 3rd graders could already count from 1 to 10 but I still wanted to take everything from the very beginning and designed this "craftivity" for the front classroom wall. I of course did not hang it on all by myself but integrated it into a question&answer activity with my pupils. The activity started with me asking "How many spots are there on this ladybird"(Which is also the question pattern the syllabus prescribes). I gave the answer of the first question to set an example and replied "There is one spot on the ladybird". Then the activity went on. "How many spots are there on the ladybird?" There are two, three, fourteen, twenty, etc. My little ones really enjoyed the activity and did not want to remove it from the wall. So I decided to keep it there thinking that it will also enhance peripheral learning for my 2nd graders. I hope it will be helpful and handy for your classroom too.
